If you’re about to replace your missing tooth and restore your smile with a dental bridge, then you’re probably wondering about the treatment steps involved. Sometimes knowing about the steps can help you feel more prepared and comfortable in the dental chair. So, our dentist, Dr. Edward Brandon, is happy to help you by telling you about what you can expect during your appointment. You can expect the following steps:

Step No. 1: Your dentist will numb your mouth with a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort. Then, he will trim the enamel of the two teeth that will anchor your bridge in place. This will allow room for the dental crowns that are encompassed in the restoration.

Step No. 2: Once the two anchoring teeth are the right size, your dentist will take impressions of your smile. Those impressions will be sent to lab technicians who will craft your customized dental bridge. While you wait, your dentist will cover your anchoring teeth with temporary dental crowns so you can use them.

Step No. 3: When your bridge is made and sent to our office, you will come in for a second appointment. Then, your dentist will use special dental cement to cement the bridge over the anchoring teeth.
